Ancient rye firewater HANDSA is handmade of organic Sangaste winter rye, the oldest cultivated rye variety in the world still in production.
The mild spirit is made by slow distillation and the traditional methods from the late 18th century, which preserves the characteristics, ﬂavour and aroma of winter rye.
The distillers of the 18th century secretly made the beverage for themselves but also for contraband and the distillers had to possess perfect knowledge and skills to get it right. As it was only distilled once, even the smallest mistake would ruin the whole batch.
